Somatic Sex Education on Netflix: What GOOP Got Right About Pleasure, Healing & Intimacy
Sex, Love & GOOP spotlights somatic sex education on Netflix. Learn how this body-based approach…
When people ask me, “So… what is it that you do?”—I often reply with:
“Have you seen the Netflix show Sex, Love & goop that features somatic sex education?”
That usually gets a curious pause. Because yes, I’m one of those real-life humans doing the kind of body-based intimacy work that’s now (finally!) making its way into the mainstream thanks to Netflix.
What is Somatic Sex Education?
Somatic Sex Education (also known as Sexological Bodywork) is a trauma-informed, body-based approach to helping people explore pleasure, heal shame, and reconnect with themselves and others. It’s not about fixing what’s “wrong”—it’s about expanding what’s possible.
This modality goes far beyond traditional talk therapy. It includes breathwork, consent-based touch, embodiment practices, and guided nervous system awareness—all designed to help you feel more connected, present, and alive.
Why Somatic Sex Education on Netflix Matters
When Sex, Love & goop premiered on Netflix, many of us in the field were ecstatic. To see somatic sex education on Netflix, shared in such an accessible and authentic way, felt like a massive shift in public awareness.
The series showcased real couples working through deeply personal challenges: body image, performance anxiety, difficulty experiencing pleasure, emotional disconnection, and more. But what made it groundbreaking was how they did it—not just through conversation, but through felt experience in the body.
This visibility helped normalize something many people have been quietly craving: support that includes the body, not just the mind.
What It’s Like to Work With a Somatic Sex Educator
Working with someone like me is collaborative, respectful, and paced by your comfort. It’s not about rushing toward a goal—it’s about listening to your body, exploring sensation, and discovering what’s possible when you feel safe, seen, and empowered.
We might explore breath, sound, movement, or guided touch—all grounded in clear boundaries and consent. The goal? More embodiment, more agency, more freedom in your experience of pleasure and intimacy.
Want to Experience This Work Yourself?
If you felt a spark while watching Sex, Love & goop and thought, “I want to try that,”—you’re not alone. That’s the power of visibility.
